My Story
40+ years
of experience.
With over four decades of leadership experience, I have had the privilege of guiding a wide range of healthcare organizations across diverse markets, including adult and pediatric hospitals in academic and community settings. This journey culminated in my role as President and CEO of one of the nation’s leading children’s health systems.

Throughout my career as a leader, coach, and mentor, I have remained focused on creating strong organizational cultures steered by values-based, purpose-driven leaders. These leaders have been dedicated to delivering world-class results for the benefit of patients and communities.

As President and CEO of Children’s Mercy Kansas City, we set forth a bold vision to address the pediatric mental health crisis, expanded programs and services across the region, and launched the Children’s Mercy Research Institute, which helped establish the organization as a world leader in pediatric genomics. Steadfast in our mission, we achieved unprecedented financial strength and the first credit rating increase in over 20 years.

These accomplishments enabled Children’s Mercy to serve children from 50 states and 20 countries and receive national recognition, including ranking in all 11 specialties by U.S. News & World Report.

My leadership philosophy starts with the belief that great leaders are grounded in values, driven by mission, and possess the courage to do the right thing, even when it is not the easy thing.
I believe that a leader’s success is built on the efforts of their people – the dedicated team members who bring the organization’s mission to life every single day. These leaders have a responsibility to champion and sustain strong cultures that help activate the full potential of their people.
